Whilst there are many inventions that make our modern day lives easier and better, there are also some truly useless inventions in existence which beg the question of how they ever came to be made let alone who thought them up. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite examples below to demonstrate how utterly pointless some inventions can be:
The Car Exhaust Grill
The makers of this claim that the car fumes from your exhaust stay away from your burger, although how they can be sure of this when you are cooking a burger on your exhaust is a complete mystery. Is it really worth the risk?
USB Pet Rock
The USB Pet Rock by ThinkGeek plugs into your computer and does…absolutely nothing. That’s right, nothing at all. The makers claim you invent interesting stories to tell your pals when they ask you what it does but this seems a bit pointless. You might as well do the same with a rock you’ve picked up outside and put on your desk.
The Walking Sleeping Bag
The name of this is in itself a complete contradiction! The makers of this clearly decided there was a market for people who wanted to be able to walk whilst in a sleeping bag – although who these people are we aren’t sure.
The Hair Hat
An invention with the best of intentions, this hat is supposed to give men who are balding on top a little extra confidence. The good intention, however, is where the plus points of this hat start and end. As the hair appears to be sprouting out of the top it’s more of a visor really which can only look good on tennis players. Add to that the fact that the ‘hair’ looks like bits of old rug/furry coat and this is fooling nobody. Best to stick to an actual hat which might at least give the illusion there is hair hidden underneath.
Is there any further explanation needed? Someone actually though it was a good business move to sell a diet version of something that has no calories. Of water. The mind boggles.
Control-Alt-Delete WandInvented for those of us too lazy to either extend our fingers to the sides or use a smartkey. Because obviously getting a huge stick out and using it to press a few buttons is simpler than pressing them yourself.
